According to this recent press release from the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board (KWREB), house prices continued to climb in April 2010.
A Strong First Quarter for the Kitchener-Waterloo Market
The 2010 Real Estate year began with the best January ever; beating out the previous record set in January 2006 and seeing the sale of residential properties reach a monthly high for the fifth time in a row. Home sales activity reached 416 residential units, a jump of nearly 64 percent compared to January 2009 and the total dollar volume of residential properties purchased also increased by 84 percent compared to the same month last year.

House Sales Surged in March 2010 in Kitchener-Waterloo
As this recent press release from the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board states, home sales are continuing to surge in the K-W area in March 2010.
MARCH HOME SALES SURPASS THE 700 THRESHOLD
KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (April 6, 2010) - For the first time in the month of March, residential property sales through the Multiple Listing System (MLS®) of the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board (KWREB) surpassed the 700 transactions threshold.
Home sales surged last month to 731 units, an increase of 47.1 percent relative to March 2009 results. In February there were 555 sales.
"Usually we start to see this kind of activity in April and May," said, Ted Scharf, President of the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board, "but spring has sprung a little earlier this year in terms of home sales."

REALTORS® of the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board (KWREB) traded 553 homes in February through the Multiple Listing System (MLS®) for a total value of $153,120,645, marking a 31.7 percent increase over January's results.

K-W Home Sales End Year on Strong Note
KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (January 6, 2010) - Another new record for residential sales was set by the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board (KWREB) in December. MLS® home sales hit 356 units to the end of December, a 60 percent increase from the same month one year ago, and a 15 percent increase from the previous record set in 2006.
The steady climb of residential property sales that began in the second quarter brought the year-to-date total in Kitchener-Waterloo and area to 6,467, a 5.8 percent increase over 2008.

NEW LIBRARY is being built in the Laurelwood area of Waterloo
Construction has recently begun on the "John M. Harper District Branch Library" at the corner of Fischer Hallman Road and Laurelwood Drive in Waterloo. This new library branch is being built together with a family YMCA.

Coldwell Banker Releases Annual List Of Most Expensive And Affordable Housing Markets
The 2009 Coldwell Banker Home Price Comparison Index (HPCI) released today found that Vancouver, BC placed tenth on the North American most expensive list at almost 1.3 million dollars CDN, this also tops the 35 Canadian markets studied. PEI was narrowly edged out of the North American top ten most affordable markets.
