KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (March 3, 2010) - While Canada's athletes were racing for Olympic Gold; Waterloo region's homebuyers were racing to buy real estate. REALTORS® of the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board (KWREB) traded 553 homes in February through the Multiple Listing System (MLS®) for a total value of $153,120,645, marking a 31.7 percent increase over January's results.

KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (February 3, 2010) - Sales of residential properties through the MLS® System of the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board (KWREB) last month represented the best January ever, nudging by the previous record set in 2006. It was also the fifth month in a row that home sales in the region reached a monthly high.
Home sales activity reached 416 residential sales last month, a jump of nearly 64 percent compared to January 2009. Relative to December 2009, sales saw a 16.5 percent gain last month.

K-W Home Sales End Year on Strong Note
KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (January 6, 2010) - Another new record for residential sales was set by the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board (KWREB) in December. MLS® home sales hit 356 units to the end of December, a 60 percent increase from the same month one year ago, and a 15 percent increase from the previous record set in 2006.
The steady climb of residential property sales that began in the second quarter brought the year-to-date total in Kitchener-Waterloo and area to 6,467, a 5.8 percent increase over 2008.

KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (DECEMBER 3, 2009) - A new record for residential sales was set by the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board (KWREB) in November 2009 as MLS® homes sales to the end of November reached 556 units. That's an 87.8 percent increase from November 2008, and the third consecutive month that sales set a monthly record.
The remarkable jump in residential sales this November is a clear reminder of what was happening this time last year... "not much" says Ted Scharf, the new President of the KWREB. "But, for the third consecutive month we have seen a significant resurgence from the downturn that started last fall."

According to a recent press release from the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board, residential properties in Kitchener-Waterloo and area increased 26 percent last month over August 2008, this was driven by the sale of condos.
In August there were a total of 594 homes sold through the MLS® System of the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board (KWREB) including 364 detached homes (up 16 percent from August 08), and 132 condominium units (up 67 percent from August 08).
"Demand for higher priced homes was softer in August compared to last month and compared to the same month last year", says Karen Shartun, KWREB President. This combined with the increased demand for more affordable housing types has put downward pressure on Augusts' average residential price which decreased 4.5 percent to $253,325. Meanwhile, on a year-to-date basis the average residential price only decreased 1.7% to $260,985.
